OUR BELIEFS
OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
Our statement of faith is a declaration of what we believe as a church based on God’s revelation to us in the Bible. This is not an exhaustive explanation of our beliefs, but it highlights and summarises issues we regard as essential to membership of this local church and faithfulness to our Lord. It aims to strengthen the unity of our church, shepherd the church towards maturity, and protect the church from false teaching.
In summary we believe that God, the originator of all things, gave us the Scriptures, as our perfect guide, and that people, who were created to worship God have sinned against him, but have been offered salvation which is rooted in God’s grace which includes the simultaneous gifts of regeneration and justification that are linked necessarily to the response of repentance and faith. God’s work of salvation continues on in sanctification and the perseverance of believers. Believers are united in the Church, which is to faithfully administer the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. As Christians we recognise God’s design in the family and our responsibility to the civil government. Our final hope looks toward the world to come, which we pray will arrive soon.
OUR CHURCH COVENANT
As members of Gracemount Community Church we are committed to this life of repentance and faith together. Our church covenant is like the vows in a marriage: they are the promises we make together, and will strive to keep together. It aims simply to be a retelling of the biblical expectations for Christians. Every member of the church unites around this statement and agrees to be held accountable to it.
