KENNY ARMSTRONG
ELDER
I’ve been married to Margaret for the last 50 years, we have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Someone said preaching is a bit like banging the coke machine to encourage the coin to drop. I was raised in a Christian family and taught the Bible from an early age, but it required a lot of ‘banging’ to get the penny to drop. I’m not really sure when I came to faith.
There was though, a time when the Bible came to life. It flipped my thinking round from imagining myself ‘quite a nice person’ to recognising the pride that sat at the centre of everything I did. But it also showed me that God wasn’t a problem to be solved but the giver of mercy and forgiveness.
We spent 15 years in Wishaw where I was the pastor of the Baptist church followed by 21 Doncaster. We regard the relationships formed in those place very special. In 2018 we retired back to Edinburgh. It has meant we are able to be involved with our grandchildren. I get to watch Edinburgh Rugby and we are involved in the life of Gracemount Community Church.
