DARREN BROUGH
DEACON
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:25)
I grew up in a family in Edinburgh. I believed in a God but never knew much about Jesus and my need of him. I lived my life on my own terms, and I would step in and out of church now and again, but I thought church was just for good people.
I was going through some of life’s storms and started questioning if God was real or not, and if I really believed for myself.
I came to GCC and started hearing the Bible. When I picked up the Bible for myself I felt convicted but then started to love Jesus for what he done for me and my sin, as it couldn’t be fixed by myself.
Some of the truths from the Bible like Mathew 7:24-27 have given me a real solid foundation. I have found Jesus worthy to build my life on, rather than the meaningless things that fade and can be taken away in a second.
I grew up mostly in Gilmerton. I have a growing love for Gracemount and the people, and I enjoy being a member of GCC. It’s a real family.
I have a son called Olly, and we enjoy going to the Hearts matches, or doing a bit cycling and watching films.
