CHARLIE FINLAYSON

DEACON

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2)

I grew up in a Christian family in Broxburn, just outside Edinburgh.

I was always taken to a local church as a kid, but didn’t have anyone my own age and so struggled with it at the time. I also went to Scouts at Charlotte Chapel, and it was at one of these camps when I was twelve years old that I realised my need of a saviour. I heard a talk by one of the leaders and that night put my trust in Jesus, asking him to forgive me for my sin and to come into my life and change me.

There’s been ups and downs along the way but I have always found the Lord to be faithful and sovereign.

Since then I moved to Gracemount, initially as an intern for a year in 2016, before settling into full time work in the funeral industry and serving as a church member from here.

I got married to Sallie in 2018 and we have two boys, Elijah, 4 and Angus, 3.
